3M E-A-R ARC Plug earplugs feature Hear-Through design allow workers to hear conversations, signals, or other critical sounds clearly, while helping protect against impulse noise from an arc flash. Double end versatility. Insert the yellow end - Hear-Through design until arc flash occurs when the calibrated noise filter activates immediately to suppress noise to a safer level. Insert red end for protection against continuous hazardous noise. Tri flange, push to fit design washable and reusable. Material successfully tested for ARC exposures of category 2 and higher, ASTM F1959-2005 modified. Noise reduction rating (NRR): 22 dB. CSA class AL. The NRR may overestimate the hearing protection provided during typical use. 3M recommends reducing the NRR by 50 percent for estimating the amount of noise reduction provided. Color: yellow/red. The 3M E-A-R ARC Plug Earplugs, Hearing Conservation, 370-2000 provide a choice between arc blast and continuous noise hearing protection, eliminating the need to carry two different earplugs as environmental noise conditions change. The yellow end suppresses arc blasts (loud sudden noises) with a calibrated filter that reduces it to a lower level, while still allowing workers to hear conversations, signals, warnings, or other critical sounds. The red end delivers steady 22 dB protection from continuous high noise levels that can occur from heavy equipment or power tools in use. The triple-flange tips offer fast and easy, no roll insertion. These earplugs are washable and reusable, and they come in a handy plastic carrying case.
These earplugs offer two listening modes: 1) Hear-Through Mode allows the wearer to hear normally when noise levels are below 100 dBA and provides instant attenuation of high level impulse noises like arc flash, 2) Constant Protection Mode provides constant noise reduction for continuous noise such as power tools, machinery, and other loud noise sources. The wearer changes listening modes by removing earplug then inserting the opposite end into the ear. The Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of these earplugs is 22 dB when the red end is inserted into ears and a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 0 dB (level dependent) when the yellow end is inserted into ears. The yellow end uses a patented design called Hear-Through that allow workers to still hear while wearing the earplugs. These soft polyurethane foam earplugs are test compatible with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System.
